Consider the Etymology

Cryptomeria from ancient Greek
for hidden parts. Crypto, 
meaning concealed, plus meria, as in 
pieces. So-called because the seeds 
are secreted away 
in the pinecone scales. 
Like an aspect of myself 
that’s become a phantom, 
mostly invisible, even to us.

The hidden parts
could add up to another person.
A small person, sure.
A child,
who never, as they say,
saw the light of day.
But not the unborn child
I expected to write about.
